” The Business Mentoring Program offered a great insight into the industry. Coming from a bachelor of photography, it highlighted that there was a whole other side to photography that I hadn’t learned, and that was business. The program offered support, to bounce ideas of like-minded people, meet industry experts and form friendships. Business is something that I will continually learn about, but the mentoring program helped give me that step up that I needed.”

The Centre Mentoring Program

The core purpose of the Mentoring Program is to facilitate young, and perhaps not so young photographers to find their feet in a daunting industry.

The challenges have changed little over the past 50 years.

It is still a matter of pricing, self-confidence and commitment. These are some of the core topics of the program. It is worth noting that we do not deal with photography, but with the business of photography, so don’t expect lighting courses, even if we might make healthy comments on your folio.

We are not offering a course, but a program. We are not delivering a set of syllabus as an educational institution would. The difference is to be well understood. We will follow a timeline with set tasks. How these tasks are handled depends greatly on the dynamics of the group and your willingness to engage.

A large part of mentoring is the art of listening and our mentors are good at it. We have chosen mentors/ photographers, who have run successful businesses for a long time, and who have a deep commitment to sharing their knowledge for the benefit of the industry.

They may offer advice and shortcuts, but your personal success will always depend on your commitment and your ability to solve issues. Mentoring will also show the value of networking and interacting within your group.

The intake for 2021 is now open, details below.

Upon receiving your registration the Program Director will be in touch with you.

The program begins with your registration, as we will be asking you to apply just as you would, for a job as a photographer. Your resume will need to be comprehensive and highly personalised.

All registrations will be answered and you will be advised of the next step. Please use the above message form if you have any questions or comments.

The cost of the complete course is $1500 (incl. GST) per student. The program will start in February 2021 and runs over 10 months, with a 3-hour meeting once a month, for a total of 30 hours, plus a two-hour one-on-one session. The group is limited to a maximum of 8 participants and will run with a minimum of 6 participants.

Payment terms:

  • 10x Sessional payments of $135 and 1x payment of $150 (one-on-one session), payable upon completion of each session.
  • Major Credit Cards accepted (no Amex)
  • Direct Bank Deposit into account name: Maud Creative, BSB: 084572, Account #: 397244627

There will be a set of resources and a timeline set out, for the duration of the 10-month program. The timeline is scheduled in a way that you will have time to work on and prepare your answers for the next meeting.

The mentors are chosen to suit the common interests of the group. They come from all genres of the photographic industry and have been in business for many yearsC5
